After the students received feedback on their design concepts, they presented their  concepts to Journalism students and faculty. The title of the magazine was voted on, as were the cover and content pages. Students then worked together to piece together the publication. In the following semester, I led the students to take the publication into an online format incorporating interactive elements and rewriting content for online readers.

I have been teaching at Durham College since 2012. I taught Presentation Skills to Music Business Management students and now teach in the Journalism program. I teach core writing and broadcast courses as well as magazine workshops. This past year, I helped students develop The Water Buffalo, a print and online magazine for Durham College and UOIT.

After working collectively to determine a mandate and mission, four breakout groups created mock-ups that they presented to industry professionals from THIS magazine, GEIST, Broken Pencil magazine and Urbanology magazine.
